A man is on the run from Port Allen Police after he escaped their custody early this morning. Police say Darryl Pierre, 21, somehow bolted as officers were preparing to transport him to prison.
According to West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Deputies, he was originally arrested for attempting to break into cars at a nearby trailer park. When they were loading him into a unit to bring him to jail, he took off.
Police say Pierre was wearing jean shorts and a white shirt, he was handcuffed when he escaped and has "Young G" tattooed on his left arm.
Port Allen Police Chief Fred Smith said Pierre should be considered dangerous.
