Halloween hayride ends in wreck, injuries
WALKER - Ten people were injured in a hayride accident Friday night.
One person was taken to an area hospital via the Acadian Ambulance medical chopper; others were whisked away via traditional ambulance. The wreck happened near the intersection of Cane Market Road and Spring Lake Drive around 9 p.m. as Halloween festivities in the rural area of Livingston Parish were ending.
Authorities said an ATV was pulling a trailer down the highway with no lights. It was hit by a vehicle.
The operator of the ATV was injured and was the patient taken away by the helicopter. One person in the motor vehicle was among the injured.
Almost two-dozen people were involved in the wreck. More than half were riding on the hayride. Children were injured in the wreck.
State Police are handling the investigation. Troopers will likely release more information overnight or Saturday morning.
