BENTON - The Times reports that Bossier City police officers and employees were at fault in more than half of the crashes involving their vehicles since 2011.

The newspaper reports that an analysis of city data shows most of those accidents were minor.

It says police vehicles were involved in 24 wrecks in 2011, 26 last year and 28 so far this year.

City police spokesman Mark Natale says 78 accidents in three years isn't so bad considering the number of officers and that police are out on the street 24 hours a day.

The newspaper says city data show that accidents cost the department $514 in 2011, more than $5,600 last year and more than $4,000 so far this year.
