BATON ROUGE - The steady climb to the top for Tiger Gymnastics continues as LSU posted the second-highest score in the nation last week during their win over Georgia, moving them up one more spot to No. 2 in the national rankings released on Monday.

LSU, 7-1 overall and undefeated with four victories in SEC competition, finished the meet with a score of 198.075 as they emerged victorious over the Bulldogs, boosting their season average to 197.315, according to LSUsports.net.

Oklahoma continues to hold down the top national ranking by a narrow margin with an average of 197.579, helped by their score of 198.150 versus Iowa State last Friday.

The Tigers' tally from the Georgia meet is the second-best score in the history of the school's gymnastics program. They also come in at No. 2 nationally in the bars, beam and floor rankings along with the No. 6 position in the overall vault standings. After tallying a 49.625 in both the beam and floor events during the Georgia contest, LSU claimed the highest scores in those events in the nation at this point in the season.

LSU Gymnastics returns to action against another Top 10 contender when they meet No. 9 ranked Auburn on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Maravich Center. The meet will be broadcast live on the SEC Network with a live audio stream available for free listening at http://www.LSUsports.net/live/.
