NAPOLEONVILLE - A baby narrowly escaped a stray bullet in Assumption parish after gunfire outside her bedroom left a man in critical condition.
Now deputies are questioning people about the shooting on Railroad Street in Napoleonville.
Brittney Hebert says just moments before gunfire, she happened to take 1-month-old Peyton out of her bedroom into the living room.
"I'm so glad she wasn't in there," Hebert said. "She's the most important thing in my life."
Deputies said a fight between a group of men led up to the shooting. One man was hit, and is in critical condition.
A suspect was brought in for questioning, but authorities haven't made any arrests yet.
