Gun control sparks resignation
DENVER, COLORADO- Rather than face a recall, a third Democrat in the Colorado Senate resigned after she voted for gun control measures.
Sen. Evie Hudak of Denver resigned less than a week before petitions were to be turned in to start the recall process.
Her resignation means Democrats can appoint a successor to keep their one seat majority.
The recall comes after the legislature and the governor approved a series of gun-control measures, the first ones adopted outside the East Coast after the school massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut where 20 kids and six adults died.
Two other Democratic senators were recalled from office in September.
