Guilty verdict in 27-year-old rape case
BATON ROUGE - A jury found a California man guilty Thursday of raping a Louisiana woman back in 1987.
Alfred James Carter, 60, was convicted of raping a woman at Sharp Lane apartments in Baton Rouge nearly 30 years ago.
Prosecutors said the Louisiana State Police received DNA evidence while going through cold cases in 2012 and matched it to Carter. He was arrested in Los Angeles.
Investigators said Carter threatened to kill the victim with a knife before raping her at the apartments.
