NEW ORLEANS - U. S. Attorneys announced that a Ponchatoula man pleaded guilty Thursday to his role in a massive child porn network, including forcing underage children to perform sex and be recorded.

Prosecutors said 52-year-old Robert Swan's guilty plea came after a January 2013 search of his home found 15 computers, hard drives and flash drives with child pornography on it. They said Swan shared his collection through peer-to-peer programs over the internet.

Investigators said they also found between May 2010 and January 2013 Swan had downloaded and shared at least 500,000 child porn images and videos, one of the largest collections of childhood pornography found in the state of Louisiana.

Authorities said many of the children shown being sexually victimized in the videos were between the ages of 2 and 10. The Louisiana Attorney General's Cyber Crime Unit said they also found evidence Swan and an associate, Thomas Middleton, forced a then-three-year-old girl to engage in sexually explicit content, which Swan recorded.

Prosecutors said in 1987 Swan was convicted in Florida of lewd and lascivious assault of a minor, so he will receive a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years imprisonment and a maximum of 40 years. Sentencing is scheduled for March 25, 2015.
