Groundbreaking scheduled for new Lee High School
BATON ROUGE - EBR School System officials said groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Robert E. Lee High School will occur on Thursday morning.
Officials said the ceremonies mark the beginning of construction of a $54.4 million campus which will initially include three academy buildings and a 60,000 square foot common building.
The common building will include a cafeteria, gym, fitness center, JROTC facility and multipurpose space, according to Keith Bromery of the EBR School System.
Lee High School students and staff are currently located at 4510 Bawell St. until construction of the new campus is completed.
Bromery said the groundbreaking at 1105 Lee Dr. is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday. June 5.
