BATON ROUGE - The groundbreaking ceremony for a project aiming to widen I-10 in Ascension Parish will be held Thursday.

The project will widen I-10 between Highland Road and LA 73 in Prairieville from four to six lanes. The expansion will span six and a half miles of roadway.

The groundbreaking is set for 2 p.m at the Blue Bayou Water Park with construction beginning in March, weather permitting. Governor John Bel Edwards and several other state and local officials are expected to attend.
