BATON ROUGE- People across the capital area are continuing the countdown to Fat Tuesday. The Krewe of Southdowns will kick off the second weekend of Mardi Gras parades in Baton Rouge.

The Southdowns parade will roll at 7 p.m. Friday night through its neighborhood namesake. The floats will start at Glasgow Middle School and meander around the area before it comes to an end at Perkins Road near Acadian.

The festivities continue on Saturday with the Spanish Town Parade. This year, the parade's theme is #PinkParty to celebrate the Krewe's 36th year in Baton Rouge. The Spanish Town Parade will roll at noon.

The WBRZ weather team predicts parade-goers will be enjoying gorgeous weather all weekend long. All you need to bring is a light jacket for the breeze and a big bag for your throws. You can read more about the parade forecasts here.
