State Police said William K. Blalock, 86, and Ariel M. Foster, 19, of Liberty, Mississippi, died in a crash on Highway 67 north of Highway 422. The crash scene was about 13 miles east of the Norwood.
Investigators said Blalock veered into the path of an on-coming log truck and the two vehicles hit head-on. Blalock's small sedan and the semi burst into flames.
The driver of the tractor-trailer had minor injuries.
Impairment is not suspected, State Police said, but toxicology samples were taken from both drivers.
