Grand Jury indicts gang members with racketeering
BATON ROUGE - Leaders, members and associates of the "Big Money Block Boyz" gang have been charged by an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury in separate indictments on drug-related counts ranging from racketeering and conspiracy to attempted murder and obstruction of justice.
In all, 28 people are charged in the two indictments filed into the record Thursday.
East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III said all 28 are either members or associates of the Block Boyz group based out of the Gardere Lane area.
Six of the 19 people named in a 24-count indictment were arrested in a series of February raids as part of a crackdown on the Block Boyz.
