Grand jury indicts 4 for murder of St. Rose man
HAHNVILLE - A grand jury in St. Charles Parish handed up an indictment today for four men in connection with the January murder of a St. Rose Man, according to the Attorney General's Office.
The indictment issued charges against Ramon Vinnett, 21, of Boutte; Janario Dewey, 23, of St. Rose; Calvin Avery, 19, of New Orleans; and Joshua Avery, 24, of New Orleans. Each are accused of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, and conspiracy to commit second degree murder.
Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said they shot and killed Michael McCray, 18, while he and a friend were sitting parked in a vehicle in St. Rose on Jan. 11.
The St. Charles Parish district attorney called in the Louisiana Attorney General's Office to prosecute the case after the DA's office recused themselves from it.
A judge sent arraignment for April 18.
