Grand jury declines to indict ex-player in shooting
LAKE CHARLES - A grand jury in Calcasieu Parish declined to indict former LSU and NFL player Brandon Winey, 36, on an attempted second-degree murder charge.
Police arrested Winey in April following the shooting that injured another former LSU player, Tahj Jones. Jones, 25, was shot after the two got into an argument over a woman. Jones arrived at the woman's apartment and Winey arrived later, police said at the time.
Winey played at LSU from 1998-2000 and spent two seasons in the NFL. Jones played at LSU from 2010-2013.
