BATON ROUGE- State lawmakers are still hotly debating a list of possible changes to the Louisiana House Redistricting map.

The current version of the plan calls for splitting Plaquemines Parish into two districts. The parish located south New Orleans is currently in a single district.

State Representative Ernest Wooten, (I) Belle Chase, accused some of playing politics by not opposing the move.  House Speaker Jim Tucker says it makes sense according to redistricting guidelines.

The House did approve a change to Grand Isle.  The current redistricting plan lumped Grand Isle into a New Orleans-area district.  Some lawmakers called for moving it back into a district with South Lafourche, which was approved.
