Governor's office to host blood drive for slain officers on Thursday
BATON ROUGE – Governor John Bel Edwards' office will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday in honor of the officers involved in Sunday's shooting on Airline Highway.
The drive planned by the governor's office along with LifeShare Blood Centers, will be open to all state employees and members of the public. The governor will personally participate in the blood drive.
"Our staff came to me and wanted to personally participate in the community's response to this very difficult time for our city and state," said Johnny Anderson, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Governor's Office of Programs and Planning. "This is a simple, personal step individuals can choose to take, as they are able, to be part of giving back, healing, and building a stronger community together as we move forward. We would welcome participation from all of our State Capitol complex employees."
