Governor Jindal defends wife's charity
BATON ROUGE- Governor Bobby Jindal calls charges in a recent New York Times article "ridiculous".
The article questioned corporate donations for the Supriya Jindal Foundation. It shows the First Lady's organization received nearly $1 million dollars in contributions around the same time regulatory issues for donors were being set.
Gov. Jindal says only the New York Times would be worried about a program supporting better technology and support for kids in school. Supriya Jindal says the paper may be surprised to learn the First Lady has in interest in math and science and is passionate about children.
Louisiana Democratic Party Chairman Buddy Leach says it is very unusual for a corporation to have their contributions timed to certain actions by state regulatory bodies. He says some donations are followed by favorable regulatory permissions to add pollutants or to produce something that is not good for the environment, etc., etc.
