Government St. closed for filming of 'Vincent-N-Roxxy'
BATON ROUGE - Parts of Baton Rouge will be back on the big screen after film crews took over certain areas to film a movie for most of Monday.
A film crew blocked parts of Government Street and the surrounding neighborhood to shoot an independent production called "Vincent and Roxxy" starring Emile Hirsch, who was also featured in "Bonnie and Clyde." Part of the filming included staged crashes.
The movie is described as an action-film with a pair of star-crossed lovers caught in the cycle of violence from their past.
Many in the neighborhood say it's a good feeling to see Baton Rouge back on the national scene.
"You know anytime there's something like a movie being film or something positive happening that's always a step forward not just for the area itself, but for the state in general," said Walter Mayes, who owns property around Government Street.
Officials say the film will be released into theatres, but there is no set date yet.
