WASHINGTON- It may not affect your life, but The Smithsonian's National Zoo panda cam and all other live animal cameras will go dark if the government shuts down at midnight.

The zoo will also close.

The zoo tweeted: "The cams (incl. the panda cams) require federal resources, especially staff, to run. They have not been deemed essential..."

The shutdown will not affect the care and feeding of the animals but all programming and events will be cancelled and all pedestrian and bicycle paths will close.
