BATON ROUGE - Governor Bobby Jindal has signed a warrant for the extradition of a man accused of robbing and then beating a Baton Rouge couple to death.

Gov. Jindal signed and sent a requisition for rendition to Florida Governor Rick Scott Thursday afternoon, requesting the return of 42-year-old Ernesto Llerena Alonso who is currently in jail in Florida.

Alonso is accused of the murder of Denis and Suzanne Duplantier, who were found beaten to death at a truck stop near Hammond last week. The couple employed Alonso as a handyman, and he did various odd jobs for the Duplantiers on their property.

The District Attorney’s Office says the asylum state should receive all documentation supporting the extradition request Friday.
