BATON ROUGE - Governor Bobby Jindal reacted to the government's fast action in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

FEMA agreed to reimburse New York and New Jersey for the full cost of emergency public transportation and power restoration.

But in Louisiana, Governor Bobby Jindal asked for the same full reimbursement for Hurricane Isaac and the state is still waiting on an answer.

"Failing that if we couldn't get 100 percent we asked to at least get 90%, I think that's especially important when you look at some of our local communities that were heavily impacted," Jindal told News 2.

FEMA is already required to pay 75% of certain damages, but in a major disaster can cover 90% or even the full cost.

In Louisiana's current economic state, footing even 25% of the bill puts the state government on the hook, upwards of $14 million it just doesn't have.

In 2008, the federal government did agree to reimburse the state for 90% of the cost of Gustav.
