Friends, family optimistic Good Samaritan will recover
BATON ROUGE - Friends and family of a man who was shot while trying to stop a robbery are optimistic he will recover.
A family member said Charlie Cangelosi underwent more surgery today. The 23-year-old Baton Rouge man was shot early Sunday morning in the parking lot of a Tigerland apartment complex. Witnesses said someone was robbing a woman, and Cangelosi jumped in after she screamed.
David Drake said he's known Cangelosi for years and considers him a big brother. He said he's not surprised Cangelosi attempted to help. Drake said it's good to know there are still people out there who will help a stranger.
Police do not have a detailed description of the suspect.
