Gonzales Police bust man accused of vehicle burglaries
GONZALES - Police reported on Wednesday the arrest of a man wanted in connection with several recent vehicle burglaries in Ascension Parish after an officer on routine patrol spotted the suspect in a Gonzales hotel parking lot.
According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, Paul Anthony Grego Jr. was recognized by a Gonzales PD officer on routine patrol based on a photo and description released by APSO and taken into custody on Jan. 9. Police said Grego, accused of several car break-ins in the parish, also had a revolver and various types of narcotics in his possession at the time of his arrest.
Deputies said the vehicle burglaries happened during the evening hours of Jan. 7, and they received an anonymous tip that led them to designate Grego as a suspect the following day.
Grego was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of illegal carry of a weapon, possession of a schedule II CDS and possession of a schedule IV CDS. He turned over to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office following his arrest and further charges are pending.
