Gonzales PD looking for hospital purse thief
GONZALES - Police asked for the public's help Monday identifying a woman who was caught on camera stealing a purse from a Gonzales hospital.
Gonzales Police said the victim contacted them after her wallet was stolen from an office in St. Elizabeth Hospital's Medical Plaza on June 16. Surveillance camera footage showed a suspicious woman entering several of the plaza offices on the afternoon the crime was committed, according to investigators.
About 40 minutes after the wallet was stolen the victim's credit card was used at a department store in Port Allen to purchase prepaid credit cards in the amount of $800. The prepaid cards were used about an hour later at a store in New Roads to purchase two more prepaid cards.
The woman accused of the theft has a large tattoo of a flower on her upper left arm and a mark in a crescent shape on her upper chest. She is believed to be driving a blue extended cab Chevy truck.
Anyone who recognizes the woman is urged to contact the Gonzales Police Department at (225) 647-9572.
