Gonzales increases code enforcement budget
The Gonzales City Council has unanimously approved a budget amendment to increase the code enforcement budget by over $83,000.
The amendment, approved at Monday's council meeting, will increase the capital outlay budget and finance the newly created position of city engineer, which was voted on at the Aug. 9 meeting.
The council expects the number of improvement projects to grow in the coming years.
Mayor Barney Arceneaux says appointing an in-house engineer will save the city money over time.
The chief engineer will report to the Public Works Department.
