NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Saints announced that former defensive tackle La'Roi Glover and long-time New Orleans sports writer Peter Finney will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame this year.
Glover played five seasons in New Orleans where he amassed 50 quarterback sacks and forced ten fumbles. 17 of his sacks came in the 2000 season, which led the NFL, the year in which the Saints picked up the franchise's first playoff victory, a 31-28 upset win over the defending Super Bowl Champion and, at the time, NFC West-rival St. Louis Rams.
The Saints also announced Finney will be honored with the Joe Gemelli Fleur-de-Lis award, recognizing his contributions and support of the franchise.
Finney started his journalism career with the now-defunct New Orleans "States-Item" in 1945, and wrote for 68 years for the "Item" and the "Times-Picayune" after the two merged in 1980.
He is already a member of four Halls of Fame, and has been honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
