Girl found bound, gagged behind church in Baton Rouge Tuesday
BATON ROUGE – Police are working to piece together information about a teenager who was found bound and gagged in some woods behind a church Tuesday.
Authorities said the 15-year-old had been there since Monday, when she was last seen leaving home with a man but may have been with a total of three men when she was left on North 44th Street. Police believe the girl may have been sexually assaulted.
The female was not identified. Police said she was found fully clothed by a passerby who heard her screaming shortly after lunchtime Tuesday.
"When we arrived there we found a 15-year-old female that had been reported missing Monday night, a runaway and she was found by a passerby," said Cpl. L'Jean McNeely with BRPD. "She was taken to the hospital for her injuries. We believe she was sexually assaulted, if not one...three black male suspects."
Police are on the scene and are working to gather more information.
