Gifford's gun control group backs up Landrieu
WASHINGTON - Senator Mary Landrieu gets support from a gun-control organization led by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords to expand gun sale background checks in Louisiana.
The organization, Americans for Responsible Solutions, said it will back a slate of mostly Democratic efforts to promote stricter gun purchasing requirements that recently stalled in the Senate.
So far, the group raised about 14 million since it was founded in January 2013 and also plans to help two Republicans.
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who survived a shooting in 2011, and her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, are focusing on at least 11 congressional races this year.
