Get Your Own Water

Rainfall for October made it the second wettest on record, a few inches short of the all-timer set in 1984.  California could certainly use some of our rainfall.  The state is in its third year of drought that is complicated by an antiquated and overtaxed water-supply system.  KNTV-TV in San Francisco reports that one resident decided that the best way to deal with the problem was rainfall collection.  Jerry Block secured four, 5,000-gallon tanks, designed to not only collect his own water but filter out gutter debris.  Block resides in Monte Sereno and once the 20,000-gallon rain harvesting system was installed he eliminated water needs for his garden and pool.  In addition, the water supply provides an emergency water source for wildfires and earthquakes
