GONZALES - Ascension Parish is hosting the Household Hazardous Material Collection day this weekend.

From 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. Saturday, you can drop your hazardous materials off at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. All you need is some form of identification that proves you are a resident of Ascension Parish.

Items that will be accepted include: automobile tires, car and golf cart batteries, cell phones and batteries, electronic equipment, fluorescent bulbs, gasoline, oil, antifreeze, home and garden chemicals, household batteries, ink and toner cartridges, and more.

Last year, 47 tons of hazardous materials were hauled away.

On Tuesday, Lester Kenyon and Ken Dawson visited 2une In to talk about the event. Check out the video for more information.
