Get "Red Stick Ready" this hurricane season
BATON ROUGE- It's hurricane season and the Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness wants you to be ready.
The Red Stick Ready event, hosted by the Mayor's office of Emergency Preparedness, provided information to the community on how to prepare for an emergency. People who attended the event at the Mall of Louisiana received emergency preparedness starter kits and got the opportunity to talk to public safety officials.
The Governor's Office of Emergency Preparedness says families should have the following items in case of an emergency: flashlight, batteries, battery-powered radio and lantern, bottled water (at least three gallons per person), maps, canned food, non-electric can opener, first aid kit, identification, important family documents, prescription medicines, paper, pencils, blankets and a change of clothes.
Hurricane season starts the first of June and lasts through November. For more information on how to get Red Stick Ready click here.
