Get out of town: Holiday congestion delaying BR traffic
BATON ROUGE - LA DOTD says a swath of I-10 is jammed due to holiday travelers either coming into or getting out of town.
Traffic officials said congestion on I-10 East was backed up for miles leading up to the Mississippi River bridge and into Baton Rouge.
DOTD said traffic slowed to a crawl starting in Grosse Tete before stretching across the bridge to the Washington Street exit. High volume is also causing congestion on the westbound side of the interstate with the build-up beginning shortly after the 10/12 split.
DOTD said drivers using any of the interstates through Baton Rouge should expect delays throughout the evening.
Traffic is expected to increase as the Easter holiday weekend draws closer, so be sure to get the latest updates on the traffic situation from WBRZ. We will have more on the developing traffic situation coming up on our evening broadcasts starting at 4 p.m. and will keep WBRZ.com updated with details as they emerge.
