FORTALEZA, Brazil - With victories on Friday in World Cup quarterfinals action, Brazil and Germany advance to the next round and will meet on the pitch next Tuesday.

Brazil advanced to the World Cup semifinals for the first time in 12 years when they beat upstart Colombia 2-1 late Friday afternoon with goals coming from Silva and Luiz.

Germany played France in Rio de Janeiro earlier in the day and rolled to a 1-0 victory as the confident Germans kept the French attacking game at bay.

The July 8 match at Belo Horizonte against Brazil will be the fourth straight semifinals appearance for the German national squad.

Match start time for the semifinal is set at 3 p.m. CST.
