Gay couples' campaign money is equal

WASHINGTON- The government says political contributions made by married gay couples should be treated the same as ones by married straight couples. The Federal Elections Commission approved two advisory opinions requested after the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act last month. One allows a Senate candidate married to a same-sex spouse to use joint assets when running a campaign. The other lets legally married same sex-couples make political contributions from the same bank account.
