Gas well blowout forces evacuations
EUNICE- Natural gas is believed to be spewing into the air in Acadia Parish after a well blowout Tuesday evening. Roads were closed and homes were evacuated.
People living near Highways 13 and 370 were told to leave. Those roads were also blocked since there is a fear of an explosion.
State Police said drilling crews were drilling a natural gas well when they lost pressure, leading to the blowout.
A company from Texas has been hired to control the well. Until that happens, crews will monitor the air around the site, which is about two miles south of Eunice.
