SLIDELL - Police evacuated a Slidell gas station and called in the bomb squad today after someone found a suspicious package there.

Police said the package appears to be a bag of fertilizer left abandoned at the base of a gas pump at the station on Natchez Drive.

They said after inspecting it, the bag raised enough concerns to warrant an evacuation.

Slidell Police said the St. Tammany Parish Bomb Squad is currently on their way to the station to X-ray the bag and see if they can determine its contents.
