Gas prices make Louisiana ideal spot for summer vacation
BATON ROUGE - We are in the heart of summer, which means many families are still counting down the days until summer vacation.
Before you hit the road, you may need to save some extra cash. Gas prices are rising all across the country, and the crisis in Iraq could make things worse, before it gets better.
The good news is, Louisiana has some of the cheapest gas in the country. Combined with the state's booming tourism industry, that makes Louisiana an ideal vacation destination.
The cheapest gas in the country can be found in the South. In addition to Louisiana, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee have the lowest prices in the United States.
The five states with the most expensive gas are Illinois, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii and California.
