Gas leak closes portion of street, park in BR
BATON ROUGE - A construction crew digging at Independence Park in Baton Rouge hit a gas line this afternoon and caused a significant leak, according to the city fire department.
Robert Combs with BRFD said they've shut down Independence Street north of the park between East Airport Drive and Government Street while crews work on the leak.
Combs said a construction crew using an augur to dig at the park hit the gas line, and Entergy crews are on the scene working to shut off the flow to the pipe.
He said at this time, the rest of the park was not in danger and was not shut down.
