Garden District wants to consider crime patrols
BATON ROUGE- A neighborhood group wants to create a special crime prevention district to fight an increased number of issues in the Garden District.
Homeowners would have to pay a fee for the private security detail.
The concerns arose after a young girl was nearly abducted in the community and a rash of armed robberies.
"I certainly wish there were more patrols, but I think the civic association does everything it can with the budget that they do have," said Patrick Alderman who lives in the Garden District. He believes more patrols would help keep people safe.
Creating a crime prevention district requires approval from leaders. There are 18 in the Baton Rouge area.
