A Catholic Priest in Summerlin, Nevada got three years in federal prison for stealing $650,000 dollars from his parish to support his gambling habit. Monsignor Kevin McAuliffe had no reaction when the judge chided him for abusing his position of trust but there were muffled sobs from his supporters in the courtroom. His lawyer had asked for probation and to let McAuliffe continue counseling for his gambling addiction. She also asked the judge to allow McAuliffe to keep practicing as a priest and pay restitution to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. The judge, instead, added four months to the sentence recommended by the prosecutor.
