BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana's gambling regulators have agreed to delay the deadline for Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. to wrap up construction of its new $231 million Baton Rouge casino.

The Gaming Control Board voted Thursday to give Pinnacle until July 31 to finish building the casino and hotel project, which will be called L'Auberge Baton Rouge.

The casino and hotel are estimated to open within a month of construction completion.

Mickey Parenton, vice president and general manager, L'Auberge Baton Rouge, says volatile water levels in the Mississippi River caused a seven-month delay in construction, with low water
initially stalling the work, followed by the high water from flooding creating a second round of interruptions.

The project, in south Baton Rouge, will include a casino with 30,000 square feet of floor space.

There will be lane closures on River Road near the casino construction site Sunday while crews install street lights.
