BATON ROUGE - The East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council votes tonight to approve funding of a massive stainless-steel canopy hanging over a stage in downtown Baton Rouge.
The canopy and stage will be used for outdoor concerts and other performances.
The $1 million project has drawn some criticism recently. Many Metro Council members have received complaints from their constituents about the design and cost of the structure.
Others News 2 talked to said, "It's not something I would pay for if it was up to me. I mean for a million dollars I can't see the other purpose of it other than the look of it. It looks nice. But ascetically it would be a good sculpture. It looks like a really expensive piece of art. It really does."
We'll have the fate of the canopy tonight on News 2 at 10pm.
