Update: A fire extinguisher was discharged and graffiti written with permanent marker on whiteboards in several Galvez Middle School classrooms.

The vandals broke-in through a window in one of the classrooms according to Johnny Balfontz with the Ascension Parish School Board. A fire extinguisher was discharged in two of the classrooms. The vandals also wrote graffiti on several whiteboards with permanent marker. The vandals wrote anti-Semitic remarks and drew a swastika.

A school laptop was also stolen. The computer was part of a "rolling lab" that is taken from classroom to classroom.

Four out of five of the classrooms were moved to temporary locations within the school. Two of the classes were able to go back to their classrooms today. The other two are still in temporary locations. Galvez Middle School continued to hold class as scheduled.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation of the school earlier today. No word yet on the overall cost of the damaged classrooms.
