Future of Messengers Christmas Wonderland
DENHAM SPRINGS - The family behind a popular holiday tradition in Livingston Parish is relocating leaving many wondering about the future of the Messangers Christmas Wonderland.
Clyde and Karen Messenger's family have been constructing the display at their home on Plantantion Avenue since 1964. It features more than 60,000 Christmas lights and handmade animated holiday scenes.
It attracts more than 40,000 people every year.
But, the family is planning to move to Tennessee. Clyde Messenger says the holiday attraction isn't going anywhere though.
"It creates quite a change in the neighborhood and where we are going wouldn't be receptive of something like this. So we are always looking for a charity group to fund to maybe pick it up and maintain it."
The attraction is free to the public and is open nightly through Dec. 27.
