Funeral held for slain Thibodaux boy
THIBODAUX - Family and friends of 7-year-old murder victim Jori Lirette gathered in Thibodaux to say their final goodbyes today.
The family held a funeral mass at the St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Lirette, who was found murdered and dismembered Aug. 14.
Police arrested Lirette's father, Jeremiah Wright, and said he confessed to killing the wheelchair-bound boy because he was tired of caring for him.
Wright is scheduled to go before a grand jury on Thursday.
News 2's Stephanie Ryan was at the funeral and will have more on how Lirette's family members are coping with this tragedy tonight on News 2.
