Funeral arrangements set for slain deputies
LAPLACE - The St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Department released funeral arrangements for the two deputies killed at a LaPlace trailer park this week.
Deputies Jeremy Triche and Brandon Nielsen were killed Thursday when they were "ambushed" by a suspect with an assault weapon, according to Sheriff Mike Tregre.
Visitation for Jeremy Triche will be Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at New Wine Christian Fellowship in LaPlace. A funeral Mass will take place Monday at 11 a.m. at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace, with burial to follow at St. John Memorial Gardens.
Visitation for Brandon Nielsen will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Lakelawn Funeral Home in Metairie. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial afterward at Lakelawn Cemetery in Metairie. There will also be a salute after the mass at the Officers Memorial.
Accounts to help the families of both shooting victims were opened at the Louisiana Federal Credit Union and Community Bank branches, according to Sheriff Tregre.
