Memorial service today for legendary band director
BATON ROUGE - Funeral arrangements are now in place for the final farewell of long-time Southern University band director Isaac Greggs.
A viewing will be held today beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the F.G. Clark Activity Center on Southern's Campus. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
The funeral is tomorrow at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. It starts at 11:00 a.m.
Dr. Greggs retired in 2005 after leading the Human Jukebox for 36 years. He was inducted into the Louisiana Black History Hall of Fame in 2013. He also selected the original Dancing Dolls in 1969. Now both are famous around the world.
Greggs was 85-years-old.
