Funeral arrangements for LSU coach Dietzel
BATON ROUGE - Former LSU coach Paul Dietzel's family announced funeral arrangements today for the football legend.
Dietzel passed away earlier this week after a brief illness, according to the university. He coached the Tigers to their first national championship in football in 1958, as well as coaching LSU'S only Heisman trophy winner, Billy Cannon.
His family asked people to make donations to the Baton Rouge chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes instead of sending flowers.
The funeral is set for Friday, Sept. 27 at the First United Methodist church on North Boulevard. Visitation starts at 9 a.m. with the funeral scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
