PORT ALLEN - A random call about trash dumping helped end a fugitive's flight from the law, according to authorities in Port Allen.
Jody Ray Dutton, 50, was arrested by Port Allen Police, who later learned Dutton is wanted for parole violations and failing to register as a sex offender in South Dakota.
He was also featured on America's Most Wanted in February, and authorities say he has a long history of child molestation in several states stretching back to 1988.
In March 2010, Dutton was serving the last part of a 15-year sentence at the South Dakota State Penitentiary when he walked away from a work-release program and escaped.
Officers in Port Allen arrested Dutton and two others Monday night after receiving a call that they were on a company's property dumping trash. When Dutton gave several different aliases to them, investigators dug further into his background and discovered his criminal background and warrants.
Authorities believe he's been in Louisiana since December, hustling scrap to make a living.
Dutton was turned over to U.S. Marshals after he was booked in West Baton Rouge Parish.
